This used to work, but not anymore,

$ aptitude --simulate download php7.1-imap
Executing 'apt --simulate download php7.1-imap'

E: Command line option --simulate is not understood in combination with the other options
E: Failed to execute:
     'apt --simulate download php7.1-imap'
E: The process or trying to execute it exited with status/errno: 100
