Subject: vcftools: Possible attempt to escape whitespace in qw() list with
Perl 5.44

Package: vcftools
Version: 0.1.17-1
Severity: important
User: debian-perl@lists.debian.org
Usertags: perl-5.44-transition

The Vcf module in this package warns on usage with Perl 5.44 (currently in experimental.)

 $ perl -we 'use Vcf'
 Possible attempt to escape whitespace in qw() list at /usr/share/perl5/Vcf.pm line 2844.

The warning causes a debci regression, which is a blocker for a Perl 5.44
transition. There's an example debci log at

 https://ci.debian.net/packages/v/vcftools/unstable/amd64/76870206/

If you want to test changes against Perl 5.44 in experimental and run
into uninstallability problems, there is a test repository of rebuilt
Debian sid packages for amd64 available at <https://perl.debian.net/>.
