Yes, the belkinunv driver works for serial. 

Drew: I think the problem you were having is that you were trying to
run the serial driver over the USB port.

The newest version of the newhidups driver also works for the
Belkinunv UPS. But you have to download the Testing or Development
branch from CVS. There is no release yet. 

Here's what you do to get the sources for the Testing branch:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous at cvs.alioth.debian.org:/cvsroot/nut login
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous at cvs.alioth.debian.org:/cvsroot/nut co -r Testing nut

I know it works because I have a F6C800-UNV myself.
