Hi,

I am considering purchasing an APC Back-UPS Pro
BGM2200B-GR (2200 VA / 1320 W) for a Debian/Proxmox
environment and would like to clarify its level of support in NUT
before purchasing it.

I found real-world reports showing that this exact model is
detected by
usbhid-ups
and that basic monitoring as
well as automatic host shutdown have been used successfully.

What I still need to know is whether the complete
unattended power-failure/recovery cycle works reliably
with this model.

My intended setup is:

APC BGM2200B-GR connected by USB to a Debian/Proxmox host

this host acts as NUT primary/server

additional Proxmox hosts, a QNAP NAS and other systems
receive UPS status over the network

non-critical systems shut down first

the final Proxmox host shuts down last

Specifically:

Has the BGM2200B-GR been tested directly
with current NUT versions and
usbhid-ups
?

Are the following readings known to work reliably?

OL
/
OB

LB

battery charge

estimated runtime

UPS load

input voltage

Does
upsdrvctl shutdown
work correctly with
this exact model?

Does the UPS expose a command equivalent to
shutdown.return

so that:

the connected hosts shut down cleanly,

the UPS then switches off its battery-backed outlets,

and the outlets automatically become powered again when
utility power returns?

If
shutdown.return
is not available, is there
another reliable NUT command or shutdown mode for achieving
this behaviour on this UPS?

Are
load.off
,
load.off.delay
,
load.on

or equivalent instant commands supported?

Are there any known USB/HID stability issues with this exact
model during long-term use?

I found reports from Unraid users where the BGM2200B-GR works
with
usbhid-ups
, but also at least one report of
sporadic stale-data / USB communication issues. Is this known
to be a UPS firmware issue, a Linux USB/HID issue, or
something specific to the Unraid plugin?

Is there any known reason not to use this model as the NUT
primary UPS for multiple network clients?

I have not purchased the UPS yet, so I cannot
currently provide
lsusb
,
upsc
,
nut-scanner

or debug output.

The main question for me before purchase is whether this model
can reliably perform the full cycle:

utility power fails → NUT clients shut down → final host
shuts down → UPS output turns off → utility power returns → UPS
output turns back on automatically.

Any confirmation from users who operate this exact model would be
very helpful.

Thank you very much.
