For example, I don't want to receive<br>patches from people via the "request pull" feature of github and want<br>all patches to be sent via email to the mailing list (it's a much better<br>workflow for the reviewing and archiving purpose). The problem is that<br>it's impossible to disable this "request pull" feature at github so<br>people are still sending me
patches via github (never merged nor even<br>read BTW) and it make me lose my time in explanations and dump answers.<br>So, sometimes contributions are lost.<br><br>It depends on what you expect and what you like.<br><br>If I had to start from scratch I would use Google Code for the mailing<br>list (optionnal wiki, issues, etc) and put the source somewhere else<br>since Google doesn't provide git repositories (which is pitty).<br><br><br>Notice that mailling lists of different projects may be trunked into one<br>mailing list. For example, the Git mailing list is used by other<br>projects relying on Git. This is often used when a project start from<br>scratch. Later, when the project becomes wider the can still open a new<br>mailing list.<br><br>While trunked, satellite projects use flags in the title of the mails to<br>let people (including themselves) go faster by filtering flows.<br><br>If you don't want to waste too much time in maintaining a
mailing list,<br>I propose you to use the offlineimap's one. I think this would benefit<br>both projects because:<br>- we will improve our knowledge of the main library we use<br>- we could easily track issues that others projects may have with imaplib2<br>- we could easily discuss/help on patches submissions and bug reports<br>- we could easily contribute by sending patches<br>- imaplib2 contributors could have feedbacks from us<br><br>It's all up to you.
