Back in August 2009 I wrote about the Ubuntu packager for BE--doesn't
install the BE icon. This is still happening, as far as I can see. I've
installed BE numerous times between Aug and now, and the icon is still
missing from the Applications menu (in Intrepid, Jaunty & Karmic),
and thus from any desktop shortcuts as well.
Yes, this looks like a packaging bug ... and we *just* got Bibledit 3.8
into Debian and synced into Karmic, ready for Karmic feature freeze next
week -- and it has the very same issue!

The latest Ubuntu version of BE, from the Crosswire repository, installs
fine, but the shortcut (bibledit.desktop) doesn't pick up the icon for
some reason, in Ubuntu or Xubuntu Jaunty. I see the two sizes of
bibledit.xpm in /usr/share/icons/hicolor..., but the icon doesn't appear
in either the .desktop shortcut or the applications menu listing. I have
tested this on three different machines.

Yes, thanks for the bug report. I'll see if I can figure it out in the
next few days. The icon is there in the top left of the bibledit
window, and it is there when you Alt-Tab to switch focus... so why isn't
it in the Gnome menus too?
I'll find it eventually, but probably not tonight (almost 11pm here). I
have some vague memory that we had an issue with this before, and
thought we have fixed it...
