No issues that I am aware of. (I mean in the packaging. Of course there
are many known bugs in GHDL upstream.) However my knowledge of Debian
packaging guidelines is incomplete. The previous GHDL Debian maintainer
has made some positive comments but prefers his own git-based structure
for the source package.

Time is often a problem ;-)
In any case I'd like to keep my GHDL package working and up-to-date
for a while. I would be very interested if you can help me improve the
package and/or get it into Debian.

How many hoops are we talking about? I assumed that becoming a new
maintainer is pretty difficult, requiring proof of my many invaluable
contributions to Debian, etc etc. Can you point me to the best way to
get started?

Regards, Joris.
