As it so happens, I finished updating the GHDL package in that regard
and uploaded it just yesterday. It uses the IEEE library sources instead
of the OpenIEEE replacement and offers VHDL-2008 support as a result.

Since it also introduces a new ghdl-common package to prevent a circular
dependency that previously existed, it is going through the NEW queue
and will take some time until it appears in the Debian archive.
