[Pkg-exim4-users] permissions on etc/exim4 ?

Hi All,

On debian7 amd64

I got this message from exim4: paniclog. It said :
Exim configuration file /etc/exim4/exim4.conf has the wrong owner, 
group, or mode

exim4 runs as Debian-exim:Debian-exim

But whatever I try in combinations for ownership or file permissions on 
/etc/exim4 ,
when issuing exim4 restart, it either complains with the above error OR 
it says permission denied when reading the etc/exim4/virtual dir.

So my question: what ownership and permissions should all these config 
files have?
