[pymvpa] Surface based pattern analysis problems

Hi PyMVPA users,

I'm trying to perform some surfaced-based pattern analysis and I'm not sure
how to correlate the 3D volumetric coordinates with the 2D surface
coordinates.

My general processing workflow is like:

1) Reconstruct the cortical surface in Freesurfer (recon-all) using a high
res anatomical image
2) Preprocess the functional data and align the generated cortical surfaces
to the functional data using prep_afni_surf.py
3) Generate a 3D map of activations of the ventral temporal (VT) cortex in
SPM and overlay the activation maps on the functional image
4) Check the reconstructed cortical surfaces and the surface alignment
using AFNI and SUMA:
    - I found out that coregistration results were pretty good and the
activation maps were projected on the surface reasonably
5) *My question is: For each voxel of interest inside of the VT cortex, I'd
like to get the corresponding surface coordinates. My impression is that
SUMA is used for visualization only, so is there any method that I could
use to extract certain information? *

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best,
Xixi
