I am not exactly sure what you mean, but I am pretty sure that the
Cantarell font itself does not include any glyphs in this unicode range.
So, what most likely happens in your case is that fontconfig tries to find
an alternative font for displaying the requested glyphs - and fails. This,
however, is the expected outcome for any base font that is missing the
requested glyphs, not only Cantarell.

So, could you please describe in more detail what "not correctly display"
means? What exactly happened? Could you provide a screenshot?

And second, could you pelase try again with a different font, preferably
with one with a known wide Unicode coverage like e.g. fonts-freefont,
fonts-dejavu or fonts-noto? Does the same happen or does the result look
different?
