I guess that complicates things. The change [1] reads to me like it is 
no longer possible (at the moment) to play the game without the need to
download something. This would be a regression IMHO, as well for the
user experience as well as for user privacy.

A possible way around could be (not checked if possible) to package the
minetest game seperatly, but that can be quite some work and time,
e.g if this needs a trip through NEW.
