[Pkg-gmagick-im-team] Bug#940271: display: selecting the area for crop is very slow on a big image (regression)

Package: imagemagick-6.q16
Version: 8:6.9.10.23+dfsg-2.1+b1
Severity: normal

1. Open a big image with "display", e.g. of size 2124x1800.
2. Click on the image to make the menu appear.
3. Click on "Transform", then "Crop".
4. Start to select an area.

The rectangle flickers for several seconds (this can be more than
20 seconds) to get the final selected area. This makes "crop"
almost unusable, and it is even impossible to do an accurate crop
as the area selection is no longer real time (or one needs to do
2 successive crops to first reduce the image size).
