Bug#404457: Games don't display images

     I originally opened bugs related to
gnome-games-data and gnome-cards-data thinking it was
just the cards not appearing but now I see that no
images appear in any of the games at all.  The
containers for the games appear but the individual
widgets, cards, or whatever things are 
manipulated within the games do not appear on the
screen.  

     In each case, if the game is started from within
an xterm there appear many messages that start with
the same prefix:  Gdk-CRITICAL.  I have attached an
strace of the blackjack game, along with console
messages from 
blackjack and Nibbles (gnibbles).  It's as if
something 
essential is missing in the Gdk/Gtk+ infrastructure or
there's some grotesque mismatch in packages, but I
don't know what it could be as there are no broken
packages on the system (I run 'testing').  I did
notice 
these problems only started occurring after I upgraded
to the Xorg server (V7.1.1), but I don't have any
problems of this nature with any of the Gnome apps
except the games.
