Bug#679713: gnome-shell: Screencast recorder no longer works

Screencast recording worked fine in gnome-shell 3.0 and/or 3.2.

Now in 3.4 when I hit crtl+alt+shift+r nothing happens. No file is
created and there is no visual feedback.

The only related error messages I could find are in .xsession-errors:

The screencast file that was never created could not be opened. I have
not changed the default recording pipeline in dconf (all values are
default). My /tmp and /home have a lot of free space to store video files.
