Bug#698731: /usr/bin/gedit: long lines with large fonts make text disappear

Package: gedit
Version: 2.30.4-1squeeze1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/gedit

Set font size to very large (eg 40pt Monospace), and type characters (without spaces) until the window scrolls.
At some point (depending on the font size and perhaps the window size), the whole line just goes blank.
Backspacing makes the whole line appear again, typing again makes it all disappear. Sometimes selecting the
blank text (either with the mouse or with the keyboard) makes individual characters reappear.

It doesn't just happen for Monospace, and not just for 40pt, but the number of characters at which it starts
happening does depend on the font size and font. For example with 40pt Monospace I can type A-ZA-ZA-L (64 chars)
without problems, and the line vanishes on the third M. With a smaller font I can type more characters.
Also happens on another squeeze installation.
