If anyone is interested in trying this out, the current master branch on
https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-gnupg/gnupg1.git has a proposed
implementation:

    https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-gnupg/gnupg1.git/commit/?id=ba179f24845addf7e386ee1fe0055aba7dfcb643

If no one complains, i'm likely to try to push this
into unstable in the next week or so.

That should significantly simplify the gnupg1 source package.

Please let me know if you see any likely trouble for it.
