Sure, but would the import perhaps take a little less time, if it were
spared all the additional I/O ?

That issue tracker seems to require me to create an account in order
to file bug reports: this is, frankly speaking, unpractical (I cannot
create an upstream issue tracker account for each software package I
have to report bugs about...).
The Debian BTS is much more convenient, as it only requires a working
e-mail address.
