thank you for this work!  i'm sorry i missed this before i went to
update libassuan today.

I packaged and uploaded libassuan 2.5.6 without having seen your branch,
but on subsequent review, your branch looks fine to me, and it would
have been fine for you to upload it.  Sorry for the collision in the git
history -- it will probably be easier for you to reset the head for the
debian/unstable and upstream and pristine-tar branches to match what is
the the debian team repo

FWIW, your proposed upload is nearly identical to what i uploaded: i
only did a little bit of extra metadata cleanup on the package:
updating the standards-version and correcting debian/copyright.

In the future, please don't hesitate to upload a new version of
libassuan to unstable, especially if the update is this straightforward.

I don't know what scale of changes you have planned upstream for
libassuan3.0.0, or when you're thinking of releasing it.  But if it is
not a backward-compatible update, then we'll need to do a bit more
planning than this most recent upload.  That would need a library
transition, which is sketched out here:
