[DebianGIS-dev] Question about GDAL

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Julian Reyes and I am a graduate student at Washington State 
University. I am currently still in the process of learning the intricacies of 
UNIX and such, so please bear with me. I am trying to install an ecohydrological 
model called RHESSYS, which has a few files dependant on having GRASS installed. 
Because I need GRASS installed, I needed to install Proj4 and gdal. I was able 
to install proj4 (using make and make install) successfully. However, I am 
coming up with errors when using the make command with gdal. The error states 
that in the GNUmakefile there is no GDALmake.opt directory or file and that 
there is no target to make config.status. Is there something wrong with the 
file? Am I not entering something correctly?

I would very much apprecite any insight/help in this matter. Thanks so much.
