Hi, 

what's the reason that you still use the old GRUB Legacy instead of
GRUB 2?

I suggest using GRUB 2 with os-prober installed.
Though you need to enable usage of os-prober in /etc/default/grub with

GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false

GRUB 0.97 won't get any fixes from us anymore.
