This is missing grub-install log that triggers the bug at the
very least. I wouldn't know why this would happen in a binNMU,
it sounds like your install is messed up somehow, like the core.img
rebuilt but not modules or something.

Does 2.12~rc1-13 work? Does 2.12-1 work which I just uploaded? 

If I don't hear other reports this week I'll have to assume that's a
fluke on your end - weird things happen sometimes - and close it.

testing is still at 2.06, and that's an untenable situation and we
do not have the means to go debug every single machine out there.
