Thank you for persisting in these discussions with upstream developers.
I think it's worthwhile continuing to explain our reasons to them, even
when some people prove to be unreceptive.

The public record of discussions on this subject, with our reasons
plainly and politely expressed, are then available to observers of the
projects, and will show that “no-one else should build from source” has
plenty of reasonable argument against.

For that reason, it is IMO worth arguing – politely and reasonably – to
attempt to convince each project.
