Sure thing. It's not a good idea to add variables that are really not needed 
(in case they are not, of course). The reason is that the environment gets 
muddier without good reasons.

Ah, it uses qmake to know where the Qt plugins are possibly (ie, qmake -
query)? In that case yes, it is a good idea to set it up.
