It seems as if that was invalid HTML for a long time and is valid
under HTML5 or so.

Both URLs do contain some links for me. Anyways, there seem to be less
links than expected. But at least pressing Ctrl-V as suggested on
https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/lynx-dev/2016-05/msg00006.html
seems to unhide the remaining ones.
