hmm - I see that mandoc does issue that warning.
However, none of the systems that I've encountered in a while
will actually use today's date in the header.
Rather, it's blank.

Given that, it's unclear whether it's (a) referring to some system
other than Debian, etc., or (b) some newly-incompatible setting
which hasn't propagated very far yet.
