There was no message in the terminal that gave you a hint what may
have caused the problem?

Amoung your installed packages audacity depends on are 5 packages
which are not from the Debian archives but from a third party
(deb-multimeldia.org):

> ii  libavcodec56      10:2.8.11-dmo1~bpo8+1
> ii  libavformat56     10:2.8.11-dmo1~bpo8+1
> ii  libavutil54       10:2.8.11-dmo1~bpo8+1
> ii  libmp3lame0       1:3.99.5-dmo4
> ii  libvamp-hostsdk3  1:2.5-dmo6

At least the first three are known to cause problems, because they
are based on ffmpeg while the ones in Debian stable are based on the
libav-project. Both are incompatible!

So you may want to replace them by the ones from the Debian stable
archives and try again.
