I am trying to check host status using a remote command, but I am
getting this message in the main log file:

AFAIK, This command has been implemented in Nagios v2.0, and is
mentioned in the documentation.

and the version of nagios you're using is 1.x :) the version string
is admittedly a little confusing, but it's epoch =3D 2, version 1.3-cvsblah.
