unfortunately for sarge users, they'll never make it into sarge, as that's
"just the way debian works".  but this is also a good thing, because
some random unrelated package upgrade will never break your stable
system.

if you have a strictly sarge-only environment, i'd suggest contacting
the folks at backports.org and asking them to update the stable backport
of nagios-plugins (which shouldn't be too hard, just changing a few
build-depends iirc).  i'd be happy to answer any questions they might
have, though i lack the time myself to maintain such a backport.

otherwise you can read up on how to to such a backport yourself,
or about running mixed sarge/testing systems.
