apparently it hasn't been fully converted, if you're getting errors
like that :)

but the nagios2 init script:

CGICFG="/etc/nagios2/cgi.cfg"

so i think this is the result of your manual configuration conversion.

my guess is that you have settings in the init script, cgi.cfg, or
nagios.cfg which are still incorrect.


if you're interested in pursuing this further, you should post us the
contents of these files (making sure to remove anything too sensitive),
and we can look further.  otherwise, i'll close the bug in a week or
two's time.
