[Pkg-nagios-devel] Bug#431953: external config file issue

According to /usr/share/doc/nagios2/README.Debian

"
- activate external command checks in the nagios configuration.  this
  can be done by setting check_external_commands=1 in the file
  /etc/nagios2/conf.d/extcommands_nagios2.cfg.
"

So I did just that:

$cat /etc/nagios2/conf.d/extcommands_nagios2.cfg
check_external_commands=1

But then, failure:

$ sudo /etc/init.d/nagios2 restart

Reading configuration data...

Error: Unexpected token or statement in file 
'/etc/nagios2/conf.d/extcommands_nagios2.cfg' on line 1.
