Hi!

AES-NI is a set of instructions targeted at speeding up AES on modern
processors. It is not yet available in OpenSSL 1.0.x branch. Ubuntu
patches their version with AES-NI support and enables it by
default. Performances are greatly improved by this support:
 http://zombe.es/post/4059999783/openssl-outmoded-asm

You can find the patch here:
 http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/oneiric/openssl/oneiric/view/head:/debian/patches/aesni.patch

It is also available in OpenSSL RT tracker:
 http://rt.openssl.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=2065
 http://rt.openssl.org/Ticket/Attachment/27708/13780/openssl-1.0.0-aesni-v3.patch

Thanks!
