Sorry for the late answer, I was quite busy.

I tried the patch from [1] applied to the Debian package.

 [1] http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/net-ssleay/trunk/SSLeay.xs?r1=331&r2=332

Apache2 at least does not segfault now anymore. I applied the patch to
our git repository, but haven't uploaded yet.
