The apache2 error.log would likely shed light on what's going wrong...
Perhaps the dep8 tests could be modified to dump error.log on server
failure?

Fwiw, in Ubuntu on armhf we also have an Internal Server Error on armhf
so if it's the same as what you're seeing on i386 perhaps there's some
32-bit specific issue?
