One reason for this can be that the Debian kernel is compiled with a quite low
HZ value and doesn't have PREEMPT enabled, like the kernels of most other
desktop distributions. Pulseaudio relies on a quite low latency, which can be
problematic without those options under load. Which is probably why the
stuttering happens occasionaly and especially when logging in and out.
