Hi,

I've just verified that this suggested fix doesn't actually solve the
bug.  I'm still seeing the exact same error described in the bug when
building ruby-lapack here (both using an unstable and an experimental
chroot).

I haven't really investigated much, but another interesting thing is
that this error is happening during the Ruby 2.7 test, so it doesn't
seem to be related to Ruby 3.0.
