<p>I'll just note that the current state in Debian testing is that "git absorb" works but git's bash completion doesn't suggest absorb. It does suggest every git-something in $PATH, but stuff in /usr/lib/git-core seems to be handled specially (see for example <a class="uri" href="https://github.com/git/git/commit/6532f3740b1c228c0a2a03a4126f4f7e4f2d73e7">https://github.com/git/git/commit/6532f3740b1c228c0a2a03a4126f4f7e4f2d73e7</a>: apparently the commands in git-core are categorized and one can configure which categories of commands should be autocompleted).</p>

<p>I believe this is another argument for installing git-absorb into /usr/bin.</p>
