Package: samba
Version: 2:4.3.3+dfsg-2+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Trying to share a filesystem where some directories and files have an
asterisk in their name (originally reported as bug #816650 against cifs-utils)

When trying to view the contents of a directory containing an asterisk in its
name mounted via cifs I get "not a directory" errors.

Samba log shows:

[2016/03/04 04:10:39.992885, 3] ../source3/smbd/trans2.c:5549(call_trans2qfilep
athinfo)
  call_trans2qfilepathinfo: TRANSACT2_QPATHINFO: level = 512
[2016/03/04 04:10:39.993073, 3] ../source3/smbd/trans2.c:5655(call_trans2qfilep
athinfo)
  call_trans2qfilepathinfo: SMB_VFS_LSTAT of amarsh04/Minami_Kuribayashi,_Miyuki
_Hashimoto,_Faylan,_Aki_Misato,_yozuca,_rino-Super☆Affection failed (No such fi
le or directory)
[2016/03/04 04:10:39.993163, 3] ../source3/smbd/error.c:82(error_packet_set)
  NT error packet at ../source3/smbd/trans2.c(5657) cmd=50 (SMBtrans2) NT_STATUS
_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND

the character after 'yozuca' and before the comma is supposed to be an
asterisk.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

This used to work and I am unsure when it broke.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
