halt -h is legal according to its manpage and source-code.  And it works,
too.

According to the changelog, halt -h works since 2.83-3 (which is from 2001),
which is well beyond the event horizon.

Which version of the sysvinit package are you using?

Look for other open bugs about this and please contribute to them with
on-spot information.  But make triple sure you have a fully up-to-date
Sarge or Etch or Sid installation first.
