[Pkg-zfsonlinux-devel] Bug#1051187: Avoid building module for kernels that have appropriate zfs-modules-<kernelversion> package installed

Package: zfs-dkms
Version: 2.1.12-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

I have computers that take forever to build kernel modules; therefore, while I have zfs-dkms installed as a failsafe, I also strive to always install zfs-modules-<kernelversion> preemptively.

Unfortunately, the zfs-dkms postinst still causes the zfs modules to be built for kernels that already have the exact same zfs modules provided by the installed zfs-modules package.

I don't know enough about dkms to be able to suggest where a check that avoids this build belongs; please feel free to reassign this bug to the dkms package if that's more appropriate.

Thanks

András
