Dear Maintainer,

On a graphical session, I was prompted for a passphrase;
when there is no passphrase, there's just a login button.

For something easy to reproduce:
  $ sudo getent shadow
  [sudo] password for user:
  user::19736:0:99999:7:::
this is obviously wrong.
