http://piuparts.debian.org/sid/state-failed-testing.html#resolvconf
reports that resolvconf 1.53 fails testing with

  * dependency lsb-base is essential-required
  * dependency initscripts is essential-required
  * dependency debconf is essential-required

Resolvconf's debian/control contains:

   Depends: lsb-base, initscripts (>= 2.88dsf-13.6), ${misc:Depends}

The dependency on initscripts has to be versioned so that resolvconf
can assume that the /run directory is present.

The dependency on debconf is inserted by debhelper.

Not sure about the dependency on lsb-base, but it isn't Essential;
it's only Required.

Which of these error messages is spurious and which are not,
and what can/should I do about them?

P.S. The piuparts-devel mailing list archive is full of spam.
