I went there and it said:<br>

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sane-project/sane-release<br>
sudo apt-get update<br>

What it Didn't say (and it took me several hours to find out) is that you then <br>
have to say<br>

sudo apt-get install libsane=1.0.31<br>
<br>
after which it seems to have worked (well, I have scanned the same document 6 <br>
times without problem). Now to get the gamma correction sorted out - but that <br>
can wait till tomorrow.<br>
