You don't say what OS/distribution use, for debian or any debian based
distro like ubuntu, you could take advantage from apt-get build-dep that
will install the needed dependencies to build a package.
i.e.  apt-get build-dep tuxtype

It will install what is needed to build the version on the distribution,
maybe there are new dependencies in the git version but I hope they
would be minimal.
