There shouldn't be anything that needs to be done on the yagv side of
things in Debian -- the python3 patch mentioned above was submitted by
me while I was porting the yagv Debian package to python3.
yagv itself in Debian is already ported to python3 and uses
python3-pyglet and python3-png. What's remaining is for the pyglet and
pypng source packages to remove their python2 variants once reverse-deps
have been ported/removed.
Upstream may or may not be dead, but it's working, and there are no
useful alternatives in the Debian repo.
