If 4.9 will be released soon, I'd say wait for that.

If it will take longer, or if the bug is still not fixed in 4.9, I think
it would be safe to force the "material" or "default" theme in the
Debian release.

FWIW, I've been running Cura with QT_QUICK_CONTROLS_STYLE="material" for
a while now and haven't had any major issues.
