You can clone with --bare option


git clone --bare
https://alioth-archive.debian.org/git/pkg-freeradius/freeradius.git

mkdir tmp; cd tmp
gbp clone --pristine-tar ../freeradius.git

(you may need to use tracking branches for all branches)
