Well the version in Debian was last uploaded in 2012 with a patch which was then applied to the upstream source tree.

The upstream author does not maintain the Debian package so it's useless to contact him.

About amavisd-milter in Debian: As this package has a build dependency on sendmail which is orphaned I'm unsure if it even makes sense to keep the milter package in Debian - Alex, is it still in use at your site?
