It seems there's been recent work on improving python3 support upstream,
including removing the "python3 is experimental" warning.

Upgrading to the latest upstream release (which currently seem to be
v1.13.5.1) looks like a good start to adress this issue. I'm thus
tagging this with fixed-upstream. Please remove if additional upstream
work is actually needed.
