[Android-tools-devel] Bug#976718: why replacing he previous version if the newer one is intentionaly non-working?

Fastboot *is* important.

It is the only way we can unlock some phones to install free alternative
like lineageos.

If the new version cannot be built, then why replacing the old working
version with an explicitly non-working script? What is the point
in replacing a working version when no alternative is available?

Now users are stuck trying to find their way to snapshot.debian.org and
make sense of hidden dependencies.

I would very much like to see the rationale here.
